Sažetak
The paper engages with debates relating to the impact of globalization, in particular of the neo-liberal globalization, on reshaping the social picture of contemporary societies and in particular increasing inequalities and social exclusion. Following this scope, paper intended to examine the role of EU seeing as a sort of counterweight to neo-liberal intrusion into the social area. By giving both the overview of the EU policies and engagement in the social field, primarily in the field of social exclusion, and analysis of practical changes in European societies, the paper will try to identify whether the European Social Model is managing to deal with the issue of increased social exclusion.
