Sažetak
The corrosion of steel reinforcement has been recognized as one of the main reasons of premature aging of structures exposed to aggressive marine environment. The requirements of 100-year design life for major bridge structures and enormous rehabilitation and repair costs associated with inability to satisfy these requirements have resulted in the development of a wide range of new technologies and materials to increase the durability of reinforced concrete structures. One of these methods is the use of certain types of corrosion resistant steel reinforcement as substitution of part or all reinforcement in concrete. Results of accelerated corrosion testing performed on different types of steel reinforcement have shown that new types of stainless steel with lower Ni content and new types of lean Duplex steels have very good corrosion resistance in carbonated and chloride contaminated solutions simulating concrete. In order to fully research their corrosion behaviour and the possibility of their utilization as reinforcement they have to be tested in concrete. In this paper results of testing two types of stainless steel (1.4301 and 1.4306), two types of Duplex steel (1.4362 and 1.4462) and new types of low-Ni stainless steel, all embedded into mortar samples, will be presented. The aim of this research is to evaluate corrosion behaviour of these types of steel reinforcement when embedded into mortar and tested under accelerated corrosion conditions.
