Sažetak
Zeolite, highly porous mineral was used as alternative materials to evaluate its ability to remove metal ions from textile effluents. The zeolites (consisting mainly of clinoptilolite) used in this work are a natural clay mineral from a large sedimentary deposit in Donje Jesenje, Croatia. The mechanism of adsorption process of dye containing chromium into zeolite by batch adsorption experiments and ability of zeolits to remove metal ions from synthetic wastewaters was investigated. Adsorption test were carried out as a function of solids concentration, conditioning time and dye concentration. The adsorption results indicate that natural zeolites have limited adsorption capacities of metal ions but are substantially improved after pretreatment and modifications with Na+ cations.
