Sažetak
Cordura® is usually described as a fabric with good abrasion properties but there is a question how we can proof it? It is known that Cordura® can reach 100 thousand rubs by Martindale without mass loss and specimen breakdown. In that case Cordura® will abrade woven wool fabric and not conversely. So, the question arise is the determination of the abrasion resistance of Cordura® by the Martindale methods suitable or modification of the methods is needed in order to obtain the significant results? In order to find out an objective method for abrasion characterization of high performance fabrics, Martindale and Schopper abrasion tests were performed on different Cordura® samples. According to the mass loss and appearance of the abraded fabric surface it can be concluded that standardized method for abrasion characterization by Martindale is not suitable for high performance fabrics. According to the results more appropriate way of testing the resistance of high performance fabrics to abrasion is by modified Martindale method as presented in this paper.
