Sažetak
The prediction and analysis of the dynamic behaviour of lead removal by natural zeolite was carried out with the Bohart-Adams, Wolborska, Thomas, Clark and Yoon-Nelson models. All models provide for calculation of the total quantity of lead bound onto zeolite q, whose values correspond to experimentally determined capacities in the exhaustion point. As the Thomas, Yoon-Nelson and Clark models have shown excellent correspondence with the whole breakthrough curve, these models were used to predict breakthrough curves at other bed depths and flowrates. The change of bed depth and solution flowrate was observed to effect the empty bed contact time, EBCT, at the constant initial concentration and column dimensions. Therefore, good correspondence of experimental breakthrough curves with the modelled ones is achieved when the value of the selected EBCT is within the range of the experimentally examined EBCT range. For a specific linear increase of the column diameter as the characteristic value, this can be achieved by selecting the appropriate zeolite bed depth and solution flow.
