Sažetak
The concept of communication using a public data network between measurement/control equipment and user software is described. The main advantages are unlimited distance between communication endpoints, data security and limited access using cryptography techniques, platform independence, object oriented methodology and uniform user side and equipment side programming. This is accomplished by using TCP/IP based network infrastructure and Java, application and network oriented programming language. Two different implementations of the described concept are shown.
