Sažetak
Background and aims: CD4+CD25highFOXP3+ T cells (Tregs) controle immune responses to foreign and autoantigens, play an important role in autoimmune diseases, inflammation and in antitumour immune responses. FOXP3 acts as an important factor for inducing Treg activation. Patients and Methods: Ten patients with diagnosis of chronic active H.pylori positive gastritis were selected for analysis of FOXP3 presence. Five gastric biopsies that had no tumor diagnosis, and which were H.pylori negative, were taken for control group. All samples were formalin fixed paraffin embedded endoscopic gastric biopsies. Presence of FOXP3 protein was detected using HRP immunoenzimatic staining with anti FOXP3 antibody ( 236A/E7 ). Number of FOXP3+ cells was accessed per 1mm2 of section. Results: All gastritis cases as well as control cases were positive for FOXP3 protein. High numbers of FOXP3 positive cells were detected in all gastritis cases. The mean number of total FOXP3 + cells was 61, 2 cells per 1mm2 of section in the group with gastritis, compared to the control group that had mean number of FOXP3+ cells of 3, 3 per 1 mm2. Conclusion: Results showed ~ 20x more FOXP3 positive cells in gastritis group than in a control group. Cosidering recent data that have focused on the function of FOXP3 positive T cells in inflammation, antitumor immunity and antimicrobal immunity this results suggest important role of FOXP3 cells for maintance and regulation of immune response in gastric, H.pylori positive inflammation.
