Sažetak
In this paper, an optimization method based on Arora and coworkers' version of Pshenichny's linearization method is proposed and investigated. Basic algorithm is enhanced with a novel technique for alleviating the numerical difficulties induced by the bad direction of search. The proposed algorithm is implemented in a FORTRAN subroutine named RQPOPT and tested on a set of nineteen real-life engineering design optimization problems. All test problems are solved with the same set of optimization parameters to evaluate robustness of the algorithm in solving real-life problems. The results prove that proposed optimization method is very reliable, accurate, general and moderately efficient, as well as easy to use, and hence suitable for general mechanical engineering design optimization purposes.
