Sažetak
Helicobacter pylori (HP) changes the gastric acid secretion and play an important role in chronic gastritic occurance, as well as in case of ulcer disease. The aim of this study is to examine the HP infection influence somatostatin values present in serum. We compared the somatostatin serum values between two group of patients ; 37 HP positive ones and 29 HP negative ones and we also tried to see the difference in somatostatin values among the ones who have an ulcer and among the ones who do not. We applied radioimmunoassay technique determining the somatostatin values in serum. HP was confirmed by urea test and by pathohistological colory according to Giemsa. The serum somatostatin values were significantly lower among the HP positive patients who had ulcer (16, 27 ? 9, 4 pg/ml) in comparison to the HP positive ones but who did not have ulcer (23, 25 ? 13, 59 pg/ml). However the serum somatostatin values were not significantly different between HP positive and HP negative ones, who had chronic gastritis. The results suggest that HP infection supress the somatostatin secretion.
