Sažetak
A summary of the results of our recent research work concerning the isomeric rotamerism, spectroscopy and photophysics of new organic fluorophores in trans configuration (see Scheme) is presented in this communication [1-4]. The results have been obtained by using a combined theoretical and experimental approach. It was found that the compounds are photostable and show a cis- polyene like behaviour in absorption, including the presence of the cis peak, while in the emission they present a strong and structured band. The emitting electronic state is the same as the absorbing one and in some cases a strong fluorosolvatochromism was observed. These new organic fluorophores may have very interesting applications as fluorescent probes, dye laser medium, scintillators and as -core for new push-pull polyenes. [1] I. Škorić, I. Flegar, Ž.
