Sažetak
The aim of this study was to determine the development trends of the best women triple jump results in Croatia and in the world for the period from 1992 to 2001. Furthermore, the aim was to explain the varying of the results, i.e. possible reasons of their improvement and worsening, and to give a forecast about the prospects of Croatian women triple jumpers for achieving the top level results. Statistical analyses were performed by using STATISTICA 5.0. In order to test difference between 100 top Croatian and 100 top world results unpaired t-test was used. Development trends of the best results in the period from 1992 to 2001 were estimated with linear regression analyses, separately for best Croatian and best world results. The mean of 100 best Croatian and 100 best world results was 11.72 and 14.71, respectively. Difference between above mentioned means was statistically significant (p<0.001). Best world results constantly improved from year 1992 to 1995 and stagnated from year 1996 to 2001. Best Croatian results constantly improved from year 1992 to 1997 and afterwards varied inconsistently. Due to obvious stagnation of the best world results, there are prospects for Croatian women triple jumpers to achieve world top level results in the future.
