Sažetak
The effect of yield strength mismatch in welded joints, performed with different geometry, on the yield load value has been investigated in the context of single edge notched fracture toughness specimen SE(B) subjected to bending using the finite element method (FEM). The crack was located in the centre of the weld. Two geometrical parameters have been identified as the most important: crack length ratio a/W as well as slenderness of the welded joint (W-a)/H. They were systematically varied as follows: a/W=0, 1 ; 0, 2 ; 0, 3 ; 0, 4 and 0, 5 and W=2H, 4H, 8H, 16H, 24 H. Basic equations and plane strain finite element solutions for the SE(B) fracture specimen with all configuration combinations are given. This paper aims to establish yield load solutions when the materials inhomogeneity within the weld is present, what is usual situation when repair welding was done. For this purpose, practical combination of filler materials, with the same portion of strength overmatched part with M=1, 19 and undermatched part with M=0, 86, has been selected. Plane strain FE solutions for the case when the crack is located in the overmatched halve of heterogeneous weld were obtained. Effects of different materials combination in the joint were analyzed additionally modeling four combinations: Mom=1, 19 and Mum=0, 5 ; Mom=1, 19 and Mum=0, 75 ; Mom=1, 5 and Mum=0, 5 and Mom=1, 5 and Mum=0, 86, as well.
