Sažetak
The Western corn rootworm (Diabrotica virgifera virgifera LeConte) was found in Croatia in the year 1995 in the village Bošnjaci. Since than, the pest is present and expanded every year. The aim of this study was monitoring of the pest in the Osijek area in 1998 by using pheromone traps – CsalomoN, Hungary, (1-5 traps per one locality). The trial was carried out on four localities (Osijek, Čepin, Josipovac, Višnjevac). In Osijek, first pest was captured 3rd of July, and till 15th of September, 95 adults were captured per one trap. Previous crop was wheat. In Čepin place, pheromone traps was settled in the field little later (22nd of July). Presence of the pest was determined on two field (corn in monoculture and previous crop –soybean). On the corn in monoculture 228 adults were captured per 4 traps, from 29th of July till 8th of September. On the field where previous crop was soybean, 310 adults were captured per 4 traps, from 29th of July till 8th of September. In Josipovac first pest was captured 14th of July, and till 26th of September, 208 adults were captured per 5 traps. In Višnjevac, pheromone traps were settled in the field little later (22nd of July). First pest was captured 29th of July, and till 24th of September, 813 adults were captured. Corn was in monoculture for more than 30 years. Majority of the pest were captured at the end of July and beginning of August. Average were 87 adults per one trap in all localities during the monitoring period.
