Sažetak
Travelling by car, we are frequently exposed to unpleasant vibrations that are the result of passing the vehicle over various road irregularities (humps, bumps, manholes). Increased vibrations reduce driving comfort and safety, and negatively impact the human body. This study investigates vibrations of the wheels and chassis of a personal vehicle at travel speeds of 40 to 80 km/h. These speeds were considered as the study sites are located in the urban core of Zagreb (Croatia). Special attention was paid to the roads, which include tram tracks, i.e. where road and track vehicles use the same transport surface. Vibrations were recorded using accelerometers, while road surface roughness was measured using laser profiler. The study results could serve to deliver recommendations for the magnitude of permissible vibrations. The results can also serve to plan road maintenance in the form of pavement management, aimed at achieving better ride comfort.
