Sažetak
It is not always simple to make a borderline decision wether an adverse event during treatment was a medical error or an always possible complication. Some comlications are compound to a medical error however a medical error may occur without causing any medical consequences. Any comlication and/or medical error in maxillofacial surgery may have both a medical and a legal aspect. We are alwasy professionaly more interested in the medical aspect of complications and/or errors, however as patient legal awarness rises, we should improve our understanding of the legal aspect of such circumstances. From the medical aspect, we always concentrate our efforts on the end result, in other words how the resolve the complication. From the legal point of wiew, although there might not be a medical problem following an operation, a problem may arise when there is a difference between the patient`s expectations and his perception of the final result of the operation. This problem is understandable if we considar the fact that we are dealing with surgery of the face, where expectations are usually high.
