Sažetak
Supervision has aim to ensure stability, soundness and safety of the banking system. We concentrate our analysis on the banking sector, since all analysed countries have bank dominated financial system. In addition, high share of foreign asset in banking sector and involvement of bank in the different categories of financial intermediaries raises the question of supervision of cross-border activities. Current situation open the question of supervision of independent bank and supervision of bank within the conglomerate (consolidate supervision). These factors determinate need for building adequate banking organisation structure and strong supervision in Southeast European countries. In such environment authorities need to closely cooperate with other national supervisors and supervisors in European Union (EU). This paper provides detail analysis of situation in the banking sector in Southeast European countries. Also, in the paper possibilities to improve bank supervision in these countries are considered in context of increasing financial integration and ways to improve cooperation between home and host supervision and adjustment of legal framework to EU standards.
