Sažetak
One of the goals of project « ; ; Prevention of behavior disorders – development, implementation and evaluation of the community prevention model» ; ; were to establish Coalition for prevention on the localities were the project is implemented – 12 localities in the County of Istria, Croatia. Coalition is comprised of: coordinators for every locality, teams of experts (for epidemiology, programs collection and evaluation), 5 teams that are working on set priorities and project council. All the members of coalition are experts and practitioners in the localities which deals with children and youth or their families in everyday work. Assessment of coalition was conduct by Questionnaire for community organization assessment and it was made by members themselves. Areas of assessment were: (1) inclusive decision-making, (2) governance and leadership development, (3) non-financial resources, (4) community supports – planning and priorities, (5) outcomes and strategies, (6) performance measurement and accountability, (7) policy development – changing the rules. Results showed that coalition functioning in areas of inclusive decision-making, planning and setting the priorities and outcomes and strategies were assessed the best. The lowest scores are in the area of policy development. Overall results showed that areas in which was invested the most through the project (education and training) are better assessed. Furthermore, the differences regarding the length of involvement in coalition were explored (One-way ANOVA). In one group there were coordinators and members of project council (involved the project for 4 years, 11 of them) and in the second group were members of earlier mentioned teams (involved in project for 2 or less years, 16 of them). Results showed statistically significant differences in only 8 from 49 items. The main differences between these two groups are in the areas of (1) decision making and (4) planning and setting the priorities. Coordinators and members of project council assessed coalition functioning in those areas better then members of other teams. There is, also, some differences regarding 4 wider communities in the area of inclusive decision-making. In one way, besides the fact that education and training is important in process of coalition building, these results could indicate that it is important to include all potential/targeted and motivated members of coalition in process of coalition development from the beginning.
