Sažetak
The paper analyzes application of the "design for maintenance" approach to the "Aframax" crude oil tanker cargo system and ballast system design. The analysis is based on the "Functional optimization method" or, in terms of economy", the rent ability of the overall performance of the systems. The two main types of systems structures are analyzed, the classical "A" and the optimized "B" type. The optimized structure "B" fulfills all claims that, from the maintenance point of view, could be defined. Therefore the "design for maintenance" approach is proved as necessary and indispensable in system design practice.
