Sažetak
This paper presents possibility of the utilisation of melted metallurgical slags as a secondary raw material for cement clinker production and an aggregate for production of concrete with potentially increased fire properties. The problems related to this type of slag caused by potential expansion are also described. In case of usage of slag as secondary raw material for cement clinker production, problems related to potential expansion are solved by repeated thermal treatment. The advantage is achieved by saving part of heat needed for decarbonisation of raw material for lime production and reduction of CO2 emission. In both cases of slag utilisation, Croatia takes part in sustainable development through utilisation of certain amount of waste and conserving natural resources as well.
