Sažetak
The carried out analyses indicate a trend of reduced interest in education in the area of technical sciences. With the aim of transport planning and strategic development it is necessary to perform the measures and activities in order to insure future high-quality human resources. It is absolutely necessary here to improve the image of the transport profession, make the transport sector more attractive by using traditional educational methods and new information & communication technologies in education. The starting basis may be the development of integrated education and training measures, e.g. connecting of the educational sector and the persons who are active in the transport sector. The paper presents the needs for the development of new methods of learning and training, and the trend of increase in the future needs for skills based on the improvement of the program at the recent educational institutions: it presents a concept of establishing intermodal development centres, proposal of new methods of learning and training, and defining of the development aspects of intermodal transport in the field of human resources management. Special focus is on the applicability of the research results through the proposed activities with the aim of improving the work and defining the education policy of the scientific institutions in the area of technical sciences, field of technology and transport.
