Sažetak
Wireless multimedia transmission is under study nowadays. In this paper, the demands for the mobile networks of the third generation capable of carrying multimedia traffic are presented. The issues such as dynamic bandwidth control, flow control, admission control, as well as ATM type of traffic are considered. Considering the problems in wireless networks such as resources allocation and handover, some general solutions are offered. On the basis of the development of the GSM standard, new wireless services such as hierarchical cell structure, or bandwidth-on-demand are presented. It is shown that with the development of new standards for the mobile networks of the third generation, the full multimedia transmission over wireless networks will be possible in the very near future.
