Sažetak
The oldest and very common way until today, to produce silicon nitride powder is a direct nitridation of silicon.
High purity alpha-Si3N4 powders can be produced by using pure and fine powders. Control of exothermic nitridation reaction is necessary. Silicon powders of 99 to 99,99% purity and commonly under 100 micrometers fineness are used to be nitrided in batches or continuously.
Using high purity silicon powders and their sophisticated powder processing finest Si3N4 powders and powders of high alpha-phase portion with metallic impurities under 100 ppm can be produced.
