Sažetak
Marshland vegetation of the class Phragmito-Magnocaricetea in the Krapina river valley was investigated during 2006 and 2007. Phytosociological research was carried out in accordance with the standard Braun-Blanquet methodology. As a result of the field work, 85 relevés were made. The communities are understood in the sense of the traditional syntaxonomical system based on the diagnostic and/or dominant species. The class Phragmito-Magnocaricetea of the Krapina river valley covers the order Phragmitetalia ; three alliances: Phragmition, Magnocaricion and Sparganio-Glycerion fluitantis, and a total of 16 communities. The alliance Phragmition contains the following 5 associations: Oenantho-Rorippetum, Phragmitetum australis, Scirpetum lacustris, Sparganietum erecti and Typhetum latifoliae. The alliance Magnocaricion contains 9 communities: Carex randalpina / x oenensis community, Caricetum elatae, Caricetum gracilis, Caricetum vesicariae, Caricetum vulpinae, Eleocharitetum palustris, Galio palustris-Caricetum ripariae, Iris pseudacorus community and Phalaridetum arundinaceae. The alliance Sparganio-Glycerion fluitantis contains 2 communities: Leersietum oryzoidis and Veronica beccabunga community. Carex randalpina / x oenensis community is established in this work for the first time in Croatia. The most widespread marshland community of the investigated area is Galio palustris - Caricetum ripariae, which represents an invasive natural community. It has been observed that this association develops on the surfaces of flooded meadows after the abandonment of mowing. The communities Caricetum elatae, Phalaridetum arundinaceae, Iris pseudacorus community and Phragmitetum australis are also somewhat common. The most threatened marshland communities of the Krapina river valley could be considered to be: Carex randalpina / x oenensis community, Caricetum gracilis, Caricetum vesicariae, Leersietum oryzoidis and Oenantho-Rorippetum. The sources of threat are the very small surfaces of these communities in the invastigated area and the low number of known localities within the territory of Croatia as a whole. For the preservation of threatened types of marshland vegetation, it is necessary to maintain the water regime of the habitats and the traditional extensive form of mowing.
