Sažetak
Croatian gynecologic cytology has been developed in the early fifties in Clinic of gynecology and obstetrics in Zagreb University Hospital Center by prof. Eduard Baršć. Right now there are 50 cytological departments/laboratories spread all over Croatia in 22 towns.There are 76 specialists out of which 59 do gynecologic cytology, 25 residents in clinical cytology and 110 cytotechnologists. Specialty medical cytology has been established in 1974. Training of cytotechnologists has been started in 1968. The national screening programme for cervical cancer has not yet been established.
