Sažetak
The paper introduces some theoretical aspects of material evaluation in ELT and EFL with particular reference to ESP and Maritime English. The study principally refers to the analysis of English language teaching/learning materials for nautical students. A number of published and in-house textbooks, visual and audio material, as well as CDs and software applications is surveyed and evaluated. The methodology of the study includes teachers’ evaluation of internal and external aspects of materials using checklists, questionnaires, rating scales, interviews, etc. In conclusion some recommendations are made with reference to the purpose, type, content, authenticity, availability of Maritime English materials, etc.
