Sažetak
The DiabCare patient registry form has been developed for use in the European Diabetes Registry, the concept of which is based on the Croatian Diabetes Registry. Data are collected on diabetes management, complications and quality of care. The DiabCare record form was completed for all 36 men and 38 women hospitalized at the Vuk Vrhovac Institute during one month, to examine the relationship between glycemia control (as assessed by HbA1c values) and one's own declared emotional state (C. Bradley: Well-Being Questionnaire, including the following subscales: Depression, Anxiety, Energy and Positive Well-Being). Diabetes duration was less than 5 years in 18 patients, 6-15 years in 34 patients and more than 15 years in 22 patients. Six patients were treated with diet only, 6 with oral agents, and 62 patients with insulin. The mean HbA1c value in the sample was 8.50% (SD, 2.51). The results of the Depression, Anxiety and Energy subscales were significantly higher when compared with normative values obtained in preliminary psychometric evaluation of the questionnaire. The results obtained on the Energy subscale were shown to be lower, while the Positive Well-Being subscale was found comparable to the norms. Correlation measures indicate an association between HbA1c values and depression and anxiety variables (tau-b=0.21, p=0.005 ; tau-b=0.20, p=0.008). The results provide a rationale for including psychological variables in diabetes management.
