Sažetak
The completion of Corridor Vc will bring forward certain specific problems which significantly affect the functioning of overall traffic system. For participants in any kind of traffic waiting is undoubtedly one of the most irritating situations. Waiting to enter the motorway and to pay road-toll when exiting, waiting at petrol stations to fuel the vehicle, waiting at ticket-counters, or check-in counters in air traffic, waiting to hand over or take delivery of goods in river transport – these are only a few examples. Obviously, this sensitive issue deserves special attention. In this regard, the usage of Corridor Vc could be rationalized to a considerable degree by applying adequate quantitative methods. Solving the queuing problem requires the flow of vehicles, people, and freight to be synchronized with the costs accompanying such efforts. In the long run, the expected increase of users, as a result of accelerated traffic, will bring about the increase in profitability for the companies in charge of traffic infrastructure. This paper discusses two queuing models – Poisson's model with one server ((M/M/1):(GD/ / )) and Poisson's model with multiple servers ((M/M/c):(GD/ / )). Their application is presented on the example of establishing the adequate number of toll-gates in road traffic.
