Sažetak
The aim of the paper is not to convey many different and often conflicting perspectives and theories of authorship and translation, nor would it be possible here, but to address the roles of the author and translator in relation to the text. The criteria that allow me to offer some reflections on the differences between the author and the translator/authorship and translation, are different approaches to the issue from the points of view of postmodern philosophy, hermeneutics and translation and linguistics. Translation is a complex form of expression and activity yet often seen as reproduction rather than creativity. Different issues emerge: cultural, political or social ; different questions are raised: those of the language, discourse, culture. This paper is not attempting to reconcile the dichotomy of author and translator ; I personally do not see it as a dichotomy, but to highlight the act of creation for the benefit of the third party – the reader.
