Sažetak
The knowledge of ship maneuvering characteristics is based upon the relevant theoretical knowledge and is a prerequisite for safe ship handling. Poor or theoretical knowledge, however, may result in a bas performance of a particular ship handling operation by the navigating officer. This can cause damage to own ship and other nearby ships, to cargo and can, likewise, imperil life at sea. In the extreme cases, it may also give rise to the loss of ships or cargo and to fatal losses to the ship’s crew. Handling large ships requires additional knowledge and higher predicting capability for which purpose maneuvering diagrams within a VLCC mathematical model have been worked out analyzed.
