Sažetak
Most frequent reason for component, machine and structure failures is fatigue of material. Most frequent reason for fatigue cracks and failures is poor design of structures, components or some of their details. Several huge fatigue failures of industrial structures and machines are described here. Attention was made to the critical structure details where fatigue cracks initiated and failures happened. Large scale of numerical and experimental analysis was carried out. Each of analysed cases directed to poor design as the main reason for the fatigue damage, and sometimes some additional effects took part, too. The improvement in design was suggested and by repair procedure undertaken. The result of the design improvements are presented and discussed.
