Sažetak
All unwanted underwater signals, which tend to mask the receiving passive sonar signal, make a sea noise field. The sea noise is a stochastic process. Its parameters are statistical means obtained during a long time of observation. The ambient sea noise may be said to be the noise of the sea itself. It is that part of the total sea noise that remains after all identifiable noise sources are accounted for. The deep sea ambient noise is a stationary stochastic process with the Gaussian distribution. So its power spectral density is a deterministic function versus frequency. Transducers for passive sonar (hydrophones) work as receivers. They have to be located in a very quiet environment of the sea, where the ambient sea noise is the most important limiting factor with a broadband spectrum. Power spectral density of the deep sea ambient noise, far-away from the coast, can be composed of several frequency bands. The report deals with three frequency bands, in total from 20 Hz to 20 kHz. The most probable sources of noise in this frequency interval are distant ship traffic and roughness of the sea surface or the sea state. The mathematical model of the average noise in deep sea is derived.
