Croatian Form of Family Environment Scale; psychometrics characteristics
Sažetak
In the last decade, researchers have advanced the study of family processes by taking seriously the metaphor of the family as a dynamic system of interacting, adapting relationships (Cox, Paley, 2003.). That was in contrary with past studies that were focused in researching specific relationships among individual family members. There is evidence that healthy family and child development is fostered by a system of strong, affectionate relationships among family members (Cummings, Davies, Campbell, 2000). Researchers are more and more interested in studying quality of family environment and one of the most used measuring instruments for that purpose is Family Environment Scale FES (Moos, Moos, 1981). This scale was adapted for Croatian conditions .The pilot study was conducted on the sample of 460 students of 6th grades from 4 elementary schools from Zagreb. Original Scale involved 9 subscales while factor analysis on this Croatian sample show that items are grouped around 3 factors what make 3 subscales. In this presentation the procedure of adaptation and psychometrics characteristics of Family Environment Scale will be showed.
