Sažetak
Onboard practice is undoubtedly the best way for acquiring practical knowledge and skills that marine engineers need, in order to prepare and routinely handle the marine plant. However, instead of on board ship, exercise in handling marine energy systems under conditions of malfunction and failure induced by handling errors is far more efficient, cheaper and simpler to carry out using engine room simulators, due to possible harmful effects on ship's equipment and adverse financial effects on the vessel. Modern full mission engine room simulators are exceptionally efficient and valuable teaching tools in the education of marine engineers. This paper presents one of the most advanced and, given its features, one of the best full mission simulators in Europe today, installed at Faculty of Maritime Studies in Split, as a very suitable education tool on the operative and handling level, for both students and marine engineers.
