Sažetak
This paper deals with the question how EU law can function in 20 (today 23) languages. The main emphasis is on drafting and translation techniques to be used by drafters and translators to improve the quality of EU legislation in all languages so as to guarantee that all Union citizens will have the same rights and obligations regardless of the language of the text. The main challenge to translators is achieving fidelity to the target language when taking account of terminological, syntactic and pragmatic considerations.
