The many profound changes the Croatian economy is currently experiencing, like the economies of almost all other countries in the region, place an acute emphasis on the question of job security. The common opinion is that job security is far worse now than it was only twenty or thirty years ago. Among many wage earners there is a strong sense of insecurity for their own job. Furthermore, there is a widespread view that most people will have to change jobs once or even several times in the course of their working life. This lack of fl exibility therefore penalises both growth and employment.
