Sažetak
Retention basin for the future hydro-power plant was designed to be controlled by the embankments along the river. The length of the embankment is about 20 km while the height of the embankments was chosen to be about 5, 5 m. The embankment geometry and structure were subject of the analyses in terms of the soil materials at disposition, filter position, erosion protection and loss of water due to seepage bellow and through the embankment. Based on available geotechnical data and demands put on the embankment, the extensive analytical analyses were conducted on different embankment geometries simulating influence of the specific site conditions in the foundation, presence and depth of impermeable wall, shape and distance of a drainage canal at the embankment toe. The foundation soils consisted of very thin clayey material at the surface overlaying sand to depths of more than 40 m. Of special importance was embankment stability under earthquake loadings as the area has high seismic risk and the sand in the foundation is prone to liquefaction. Finally, based on the analyses embankment slope angles were suggested, position and shape of the filter layers were chosen and additional investigation work was proposed for further analysis of the liquefaction potential. The article will demonstrate criteria put on materials, embankment structure and foundation in order to satisfy project needs.
