Sažetak
Environmental protection is gaining ever more political significance. A new study on environmental awareness demonstrates that climate change, a turnabout in energy, and environment-related health risks have become important for an increasing number of the population. Given today's environmental pressures and energy security concerns, we need to move away from fossil-fuel-powered vehicles. But repeated attempts to introduce other technologies during the past century have nearly all failed. Dethroning the gasoline-consuming internal combustion engine (ICE) has proved difficult. Rational and controlled vehicle use in transport and traffic is an obligation for the future. Any activation of energy bears a burden to the environment in full amount. A warm-up lifts light gases like oxygen and nitrogen, while steam and carbon-dioxide choke the environment. Such are the signs of nature: there are no pure energy forms, no "clean fuels", no "clean engines", neither "clean vehicles". Actual reserves and natural gifts – coal, petroleum and gas – should be used less as power sources and more as raw materials. Rational, cost-effective technologies and products that economically engage the gifts of nature make a major contribution to the ecological extension of life on our planet. This paper analyses delusions of the "Kyoto protocol" and presents the results of our own research of cetane characteristics, bio-diesel fuel and technological solutions for maximal energy efficiency engines with minimal adverse effects on environment.
