Sažetak
There is an increasing trend to both tighter machining tolerances and higher performance materials. Hardfacing alloys find a widespread application on tools and machine components which are subjected to wear. These alloys are often deposited by welding. Application include screw extruders, valve seat inserts for process engineering plants, shear cutters and rollers on forging machine. In many cases, deposited surface has to be machined by finishing operations. Development of new cutting edge material enable, and become more interesting, processing of those materials (especially materials with high hardness) with turning process. Cutting conditions in hard turning process are different from conventional turning process regarding the high pressure on cutting edge and ratio of cutting forces . Application of hard turning process as the finishing one involve some demands on surface quality (surface roughness, and physical-chemical properties of surface layer), form and dimensional accuracy, and become alternative to grinding process. Testing are performed on material with hardness above 45 HRC. It is measured surface roughness, dimensional accuracy (by axial turning), as well as wearing condition of cutting edge.
