Sažetak
Introduction: In 2005 the Croatian first mobile PET system was commissioned into service. The study describes our own three-year old technological experience in the organization of this service, emphasizing the problems and difficulties encountered. We also clearly showed the basic physics-theoretical and practical principles of PET technology. Methods: The initial experience has been gained with the mobile scanner based at Osijek University Hospital. Results: We scanned for an average of 3 days per 2 months, having scanned around 250 patients per 3 years. During use of this mobile PET technology we noticed certain problems we came across in our work. Problems include the application of acvisition protocols, duration of the whole working process with patients, availability of "hot" waiting room space and increased patient and technologist radiation dosage. Conclusion: In western developed countries the mobile imaging suppliers provide all-inclusive service whilst renting the device. In our country, there are many issues that should be considered prior to setting up and running mobile PET, or in the future, mobile PET/CT scanning.
