Sažetak
Zdravko Lorković was an eminent Croatian lepidopterist and experimental evolutionist. He was one of the pioneers in the experimental investigations of the heterodynamic development of the butterfly pupae and the phenotypic modifiability, he gave firm support to the conception of the biological species, one of the pioneers of cytotaxonomy, he introduced new methods of artificial butterfly copulation. He accepted and corrected Mayr's definition of the concept of semispecies. He described several new taxa of butterflies. Lorković bequeathed a collection of about 40, 000 butterflies (faunistic part and specimens from crossing experiments).
