Sažetak
This paper presents the results of the strategy of the economic development of Croatia so far, which has not brought positive results so that there are new, alternative solutions in the creation of a strategy for the improvement of the international competitiveness of Croatian economy as a condition for advancing towards the European Union. Restructuring, improvement of the efficiency and of the competitiveness on the microeconomic level are directly connected with macroeconomic stability of the country (with the stability of prices and of the exchange rate, with a balanced goverment budget, with a moderate external indebteness). Disharmony between the factors listed above results in an inability to solve problems in the firms' business operations, which inderectly affects economic flows on the whole.
