Sažetak
Symmetries of objects form a huge and important subject existing almost everywhere: in nature as well as in arts and sciences. The purpose of this workshop is to show how students can investigate some mathematical concepts underlying the notion of symmetry. Participants in this workshop will be engaged in investigation of symmetries in geometry: starting from the study of geometric transformations, plane isometries and congruences leading to the study of symmetries of plane figures. These geometric notions offer the opportunity of bringing together geometry and algebra ; they result in students' deeper insight of some algebraic concepts like functions, their compositions and inverses, and finally a notion of a group. The proposed workshop is based on dynamic geometry software workshops organized for students and teachers of mathematics in secondary schools
