Sažetak
In this research we explore widely accepted criteria of higher education quality (especially those closely connected with teaching competencies of higher education teachers), with the purpose to find out the scope in which these criteria are respected in Croatian higher education. Our data show that the teachers and the students (203 teachers and 469 students from the University of Rijeka) substantially differ in their opinions on quality of actual teaching at the universities. The results of Mann-Whitney U test show that teachers and students show statistically significant difference in every criterion (15 criteria were offered for assessment). The test shows that the teacher grade actual teaching at the universities higher than the students, and that the differences regarding some of the criteria could be called radical (for example, for the fairness of teachers' assessment and their readiness to help).
