Sažetak
Interaction of central nervous and endocrine system could be altered in stress situations caused by life treatening diseases. We studied the effect of creative art psychotherapy on hormones involved in metabolism of stress reaction (Cortisol and cateholamines) in five women with breast cancer (BC) and five women with benign breast disease (BBD). The cortisol in serum and urin was measured by RIA and cateholamines (adrenalin and noradrenalin) in urin by extraction chromatography. In women with BRD, but not with breast cancer, the paradoxal increase of the basal serum and 24 hours urinary cortisol secretion was found after therapy. Basal 24 hours urinary adrenalin secretion was elevated in women with BRD, and normal in patients with breast carcinoma. After therapy the adrenalin excretion were normal. The noradrenaline urinary secretion was reduced for more than 50 % after therapy in both of the groups. Our preliminary results could suggest that creative art psychotherapy predominantly positivly influenced the catecholamines secretion but not inhibit the HPA axis hypereactivity.
