Sažetak
In this paper, the authors discuss the development of advertising in Croatia, a formerly socialist country that has been through a five-year period of war (1991-1995). Such a critical situation and fundamental changes caused by introduction of new social and political system influences advertising in Croatia as well. Through the entire period of the development of advertising in Croatia, it was difficult to apply the same evaluation criteria as in developed countries. The main reasons for this are objective circumstances caused primarily by the economic underdevelopment and the existance of a more or less radical system of planned economy in the period 1945-1990.
