Sažetak
The reported incidence of STDs in Croatia in the last decade motivates us to take a survey into the young people's sexual behavior in Rijeka region. Sexual experience, knowledge, attitude and practice on contraception were analyzed in student population University of Rijeka from February to May 2007 using anonymous questionnaire. The questionnaire construction included demographic data, sexual orientation, experience of STDs and pregnancy, contraception practice, knowledge and attitudes on sexual behavior. Chi-square tests were used to asses differences by sexual experience and gender. Our results showed that knowledge on STDs in student population of Rijeka University is generally not satisfactory. In conclusion, greater efforts are needed to publicize the risk of exposure to different STDs and to braoden the knowledge on STDs in general among young people.
