Sažetak
The total power of the worldwide installed pumps is enormous. Consequently, significant amount of energy can be saved by their optimal use. A pump is optimally used if it provides desired liquid flow with minimal required power. In this paper the liquid flow control methods are surveyed and compared. The special attention is payed to the flow control methods based on pump speed control via an adjustable coupling and via a frequency converter supplied AC drive. The general considerations of the efficiency of this two methods are presented and supported by considerations on a case study. The solution with frequency converter supplied AC drive is proven to be more efficient, especially if the required speed range is wide.
