Sažetak
Analysis of climate shema water ameliorative measures should be applied to the whole territory of Croatia with the aim of regulating exces waters and compensating water deficienca in the soil. Besides, the need for increased food production, emphasize the reasons for the application of drainage and irrigation in this area. However, to prevent water pollution and achieve a system of sustainable production on hydromorphic soils, we that certain changes to the earlier applied concept of intensive detailed drainage are necessary. The paper describes drainage practies commonly applied in conventional agriculture as well as those which we recommend for conditions of sustainable agriculture on some hydromorphic soils. The main reason why irrigation should be developed in this country is the phenomenon of the climate be coming increasingly arid. This fact is supported by records of lower precipitation as well as higher air temperatures and evapotranspirration in recent years. This naturally leads to a crisis in traditional farming, the solution of which involves the application of irrigation. In irrigation conditions, mixed cropping - stock raising- vegetable production will be practied on farms. A broader sowing structure will be applied, in regular and secondary sowing. Every farmer dreams of two harvests on our fields and this can be achieved only by irrigation. On future farms with mixed production, cropping and stock raising will be closely interlinked (symbiosis), which will enable appropirate soil and water management, as well as more diverse and cost - effective agricultural production.
