Sažetak
Although the most evident and indisputable changes that we perceive are based on visual elements, we will also emphasize the changes which have consequently happened in music. The recognition of urban transformations in small towns and villages on the west coast of Istria due to intensive tourism development, leads us to research its far reaching consequences. Our approach is based on the assumption that the process of settlement urbanization causes the urbanization of inhabitants’ cultural characteristics as well, i.e. refines them, their traditional values become urban. The authors wish to present how recent changes, hidden behind the hasty and facile tourism profitability, implicate alterations in everyday life of the local community. There are two segments of change to point out: 1. family homes transformation: from traditional Istrian house with baladur to family house with tourist apartments 2. change in perception in music: what and how often was played and sang in classical and traditional music, and how musical life looks today.
