Sažetak
The paper analyses the main trends in the development of unmanned underwater vehicles (UUV) in military and commercial applications. It considers remotely operated vehicles (ROV), as well as autonomous underwater vehicles (AUV). A brief history of UUVs is followed by the present development results in the military and commercial market. The main development courses for the future are analysed through the so-called UUV Strategic Plan of the US Navy and through some private ventures of the companies involved in this field.
